Lula L. Kosa Lula Lucille Lephew Kosa, 87, of Wytheville died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010. Funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel in Austinville with the Rev. Buddy Dillow officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery at Bluewell, W.Va., where she rests beside her beloved husband. She was born Jan. 12, 1923, in the Walton Furnace community of Wythe County, daughter of the late John and Beulah Manley Lephew. She and her late husband, Andy Kosa Jr., operated Andy's Grocery in McDowell County, W.Va., before retirement in 1980. A precious gift to all who knew her, her smiles and wisdom were a constant guide through good and bad days. She nurtured and treasured her family all the days of her life, raising five children of her own and two special granddaughters. She will be remembered as one who held on tight to life with her family beside her until she gave her hand to God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Kosa Jr.; two sisters, Rebecca Lephew Edsel and Martha Lephew Monton; and five brothers, Thomas Lephew, Draper Lephew, Howard Lephew, Giles Lephew and Fred Lephew. Survivors include five children, William Andrew Kosa of Princeton, W.Va., Patricia Kosa Carter of the home, Charles Delano Kosa of Cookesville, Tenn., Rose Kosa Tester of Fletcher, N.C., and Brenda Kosa McLaughlin of Henderson, Nev.; eight grandchildren, Tammy Kay Kosa of Johnson City, Tenn., Kimberly Lynn Kosa of Wytheville, Martha Jane Kosa of Cookesville, Tenn., Penny Renee Kosa of Burke Mountain, W.Va., David Tester Jr. of Montgomery, Mass., Kelli Anne McLaughlin of Henderson, Nev., Carla Dawn Tester of Westfield, Mass., and Lora Beth Kosa of Bluewell, W.Va.; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family expresses appreciation for the compassionate care she received from Hospice and the doctors and nurses at Wythe County Community Hospital before her death. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville was in charge of the arrangements.
