Mary C. Snyder Mary Preston Crewey Snyder, 84, of Rural Retreat died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, in Wythe County Community Hospital. The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. She was the daughter of the late Robert Ray and Mazie Pearl Burchett Crewey. She was a loving and devoted mother. Her main interests were fashion and fitness. She was a cosmetician at Vandervort's Department Store in St. Louis, Mo. For the past 10 years, she had lived in this area near her sisters. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond, Johnny, Robert and Marvin Crewey; and her sisters, Eleanor Salter and Ovella Polansky. She is survived by two sons, Douglas Stamper of Hampton, N.H., and Leslie Snyder of Rural Retreat; one daughter, Karen Mizerany of Belleville, Ill.; three sisters, Louise Horne of Rural Retreat, Kathleen Vaught of Shoshone, Idaho, and Ruth Alley of Abingdon; two granddaughters, Karen Mizerany Tapper and Mary Beth Mizerany; and two great-grandchildren, Eaden and Ellias. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Suite 113, Johnston City, TN 37604 or to the American Red Cross, 214 West Main Street, # E, Marion, VA 24354. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the Snyder family.
