McDonald Johnson McDonald "Mack" Johnson, 77, of Wytheville died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. at Morning Star Outreach Ministries with Pastors Kenneth Johnson and Shellie Kyle officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Wytheville with VFW Post 2719 conducting graveside military rites. He was born June 26, 1933, son of the late Reece Sr. and Ida Dean Johnson. He was retired from Northwinds Apartments and the Wytheville Recreation Department. He was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Gardner; and two brothers, William Johnson and Wilbert Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ellen Chaffin Johnson; a son and fianc‚, McDonald "Bitty" Johnson Jr. and Cora Miller of Wytheville; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathrine "Kitten" and Stephan Thomas of Hickory, N.C.; three brothers, John Johnson, Reece Johnson Jr. and Kenneth Johnson, all of Wytheville; three sisters, Louise Crockett and Peggy Porter, both of Wytheville, and Lucy Eppes of Burksville; nine grandchildren, Alesha, Claudia, Marshall, Vincent, Reign, Maddison, Stephan II, Travis and Jermaine; and several nieces and nephews. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
