McGinnis R. "Jim" Call

Call McGinnis R. "Jim" Call, 82, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Brookhaven Manor in Kingsport, Tenn. He was formerly of Call Brothers Construction from 1952 until 2004 and attended Washington Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Belle Thayer Call; parents, W.R. and Virgie Call; brother, Oscar Call; and sister, Agnes Johnson. Survivors include one son, Rick Call and wife, Patti, of Glade Spring; daughter, Karen Shaffer and husband, Mike, of Glade Spring; five grandchildren, Josh and Jennifer Shaffer, Tori, Isaac, and Sophie Call; two brothers, Mock Call and wife, Polly, of Glade Spring and Bill Call and wife, Jane, of Saltville; three sisters, Kathleen Martin of Saltville, Mattie Wyatt and husband, June, of Maryland, and Sylvia Crosswhite of Saltville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Lusk and the Rev. Mark McFadden officiating. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Rose Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
