Ollie Ruth Parks

Parks Ollie Ruth Parks, 85, widow of Richard Parks, died Oct. 29, 2010, at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion. Survivors include five daughters, Virginia Saults of Bakersville, N.C., Hattie Cullop, Zetta Lee Hicks, Dorothy Grindstaff and Lorie Ann Martin, all of Sugar Grove; one son, Danny Parks of Glade Spring; three sisters, Lula Hall of Marion, Virgie Umbarger of Rural Retreat, and Louise Osborne of Atkins; two brothers, Homer Parks of Rural Retreat and Willie Ernest Parks of Rural Hall, N.C.; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Baker and the Rev. Billy Gwinn officiating. Burial followed in Bald Rock Cemetery, Flat Ridge.
