Ona M. Parks Ona Martin Parks, 82, of Rural Retreat went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010. A graveside service was held Monday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rural Retreat with the Rev. Richard Gregory and Pastor RuthAnne Henley officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Thomas and Verlie Roberts Martin; husband, Andrew Jackson "Jack" Parks; a son, Jamie Parks; and a grandson, Stephen Patterson. Survivors include children and spouses, Andrew J. Jr. and Carolyn Parks of Lanexa, Mary P. and Steve Patterson of Eastover, N.C., Tony L. and Joy Parks of Stuart, Jeannie P. and Dean King, and Michael N. and Kim Newman, all of Rural Retreat; a brother, R.C. Martin of Florida; a brother-in-law, Robert McAllister of Maryland; nine grandchildren and spouses, Amanda P. and Jimmy Wetherington, and Nicole P. and Jason Arsenault, all of Lanexa, Mindy Parks of Hampton, Patrick Patterson of Eastover, N.C,, Deanna K. and Scott Spraker of Rural Retreat, Chad and Courtney King of the Fort Chiswell community of Wythe County, Jamie L. King of Christiansburg, Ericka P. and Jason Lytton of Pulaski, and Matthew and Ashley Parks of the Fort Chiswell community of Wythe County; 14 great-grandchildren, Gavin Wetherington, Summer Wetherington, Zack Wetherington, Kayla Parks, Tavis Arsenault, Bryden Arsenault, Laylani Arsenault, Cara Patterson, Craig Patterson, Christen Patterson, Elizabeth Kennedy, Gavin Lytton, Jocelyn Noel Parks and Dawson Lytton; and several special nieces and nephews. I n lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 W. Ridge Road, Wytheville, VA 24382; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 958, Wytheville, VA 24382. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
