Patricia K. Bedwell Patricia Keeley Bedwell, 58, of Wytheville died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010. At her request, there will be no funeral service. She was born in Ohio, daughter of the late Gordon "Dick" and Frances Brown Keeley. Her father was in the U.S. Air Force, traveling all over the world. She graduated from high school at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan, in 1970. She was a 1972 graduate of Wytheville Community College with an associate degree in nursing. She was employed at Wythe County Community Hospital as a registered nurse on the medical floor when the hospital admitted its first patients in July 1972. She later transferred to the newborn nursery and retired in 2001 from the risk management department. During her 29 years of nursing, she attended many seminars, belonged to several nursing associations and was certified as a newborn nursery nurse. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and special friend to many. She is survived by her husband, David James Bedwell of Wytheville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy and John Patterson of Houston, Texas, and Anna Marie Bedwell of Wytheville; a son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Sarah Harris of Fort Benning, Ga.; three uncles and aunts, Bill and Edmona Brown, and Georgia Staley, all of Wytheville, and Helen and Archie Williams of Ohio; two grandchildren, Bailey Pearl Nance and Morghann Patterson, both of Houston, Texas; mother-in-law, Carleen Harmon of Wytheville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Bobby Jones of Rural Retreat; friend of 39 years, Hope Reynolds; and many other special relatives and friends. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. The family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff, with special thanks to Samantha of Centra Specialty Hospital of Lynchburg, for the care and compassion at this difficult time. They also thank Patty's personal assistants, Betty Parks and Cherry Smith. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.

You were a special person and I called you friend. We worked together for years and you were there when I had babies and grandbabies. To her family, I'm very sorry for your loss. She was a kind and loving person.
