Roy L. Sawyers Roy L. Sawyers, 71, of Wytheville died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Mack Taylor officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a true witness for the Lord. He was employed for many years at Kincer-Miller Hardware and then at Hobert N. Grubb Inc. where he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Verda Akers Sawyers; and a brother, Kent Douglas Sawyers of Grand Prairie, Texas. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, JoAnn Sawyers of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Pat Wolford of Max Meadows; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Erin Sawyers of Gray, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Will Hudson, Alissa Sawyers and Zach Sawyers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Faith Promise Program at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
