Ruby I. Sharitz Ruby Irene Sharitz, 78, of Wytheville died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville. Funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with Pastor Richard Collins officiating. Entombment was in the West End Mausoleum. She was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Lacy Stroupe and the late Callie Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sharitz; and two brothers, Roy Stroupe and Alfred Stroupe. Survivors include six daughters and sons-in-law, Doris Holbrook of Sweetwater, Tenn., Pat and Jerry Brant of Wytheville, Bonnie and Danny Gordon of Rural Retreat, Donna Surratt of Wytheville, Wanda and Brad Goodin, and Melissa and James Story, all of Wytheville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Sharitz, and Carl and Amy Sharitz, all of Wytheville; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three stepgrandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Juanita Stroupe of the Fort Chiswell community of Wythe County; a sister, Josephine Stroupe of Wytheville; and several other relatives.
