Ulysses G. Lampkins Ulysses Graham Lampkins, 70, of Max Meadows died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with Pastor Janet Lampkins officiating. Interment will be in the Lampkins Family Cemetery. He was born Oct. 13, 1940, in Max Meadows, son of the late Everett and Edith Jenkins Lampkins. He was preceded in death by a brother, James D. Lampkins; and an infant sister, Rosa Lee Lampkins. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lampkins of the home; children, Bruce Felton and Melva of Southfield, Mich., Vernard Lampkins and Kim of Detroit, Mich., Tammy Lampkins and Henry of McDonough, Ga., Shirl Lampkins of Westland, Mich., Harold Wheeler and Crystal of Bluefield and Charles Wheeler of Wytheville; brothers and sisters, Edward Lampkins and Mattie, Gertrude Lampkins, Dorthea Lampkins, Mildred Hawkins, Roberta Funderburk, Gladys Lampkins, Patty Truesdale and Joseph, Nancy Bryson and Bobby, Wanda Sockwell and Reginald, and Diane Lampkins; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
