Fowler Zollie Perkins Fowler, 91, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Smyth County Community Hospital. She was born in Grayson County on Oct. 2, 1919 and had lived in Smyth County since 1933. She became a member of Falling Water Baptist Church in 1953, was a member of Marion Garden Club for many years and worked in health care for several years. She was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Smyth County Community Hospital and had received an award from the District Three Annual Service Awards. She was a correspondent for the Smyth County News& Messenger and had written news articles from the communities of Laurel Springs for 10 years and then Attoway and Currin Valley for over 54 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jackson Fowler Sr.; three sons, Ronald Mack Fowler, Paul Jackson Fowler Jr. and Richard Lee Fowler; five brothers; three sisters and one great-grandson. Survivors include two sons and three daughters-in-law, Charlie Jack and Pat Russell Fowler, Joseph David and Marsha M. Fowler, and Edna King Fowler, all of Marion; one sister, Trixie Winters of Marion; one brother, Robert Hale Perkins of Nesquehoning, Penn.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. at Falling Water Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Creasy and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Marion. The family received friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
