Chrystal Sexton-McEachin Obituary
York
Chrystal Renee Sexton-McEachin, born February 18, 1959, peacefully entered into heaven Saturday April 8 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous four year battle. She was 58.
Born and raised in York, she attended city schools and graduated from William Penn. After graduation she began her legacy of loving and helping others, first as an in-home caregiver, then with the Sidewalk Ministry at Asbury United Methodist Church. Chrystal then helped establish Christ's Hope Community Church in her neighborhood where she became the pillar of countless programs including Gap Girls, M.A.S.K., Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Jays Club and many more. While working as a YMCA Kids Club assistant group supervisor for many years, she was also the director of the Northeast Neighborhood Association for over 20 years, coordinating block parties, holiday parties, Christmas gift giveaways for the kids, a food and clothing bank, hunger walks, National Night Out, and Neighborhood Home Improvement programs. She was a tireless advocate for clean streets, giving, self-betterment, and faithful service to God. Her impact was felt not only in her neighborhood, but throughout the city of York. She enjoyed, family, cooking, R&B and gospel music, dancing, and helping make a difference.
Chrystal leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Antonio McEachin; her parents, William and Dorothy Sexton (York); brother, Kyle Sexton and Shimizu Hikage-Sexton (Japan); brother, Willie Sexton (Georgia); sister, Darlene and Marshall Leonard (York); sisters, Bonita Roland (York), and Myra Garvin(Georgia); her children, Edwin Sexton (Kate Crerand), Elmira Sexton (Ian Jenkins), Antoinette Dickson (Willie Dickson), Antonio McEachin II (Luz Rodriquez), and Isaac McEachin (Maricela Hernandez); her adoring grandchildren, Dalmar, India, Alivia, Dayvon, Ras'dashan, Wilashanay, Keyon, Elijah, Willie, Antonio, A'Niyah, Antoinette, Leilani; three blessings on the way; and a special friend; Kathy Brubaker. She leaves a host of aunts; uncles; cousins; colleagues; and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elvira Sexton; a brother, Michael Roland; and a granddaughter, Inanna.
John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, is entrusted with her cremation, and the family invites you to attend a memorial service Saturday April 15 for Chrystal at Asbury United Methodist Church, 340 E. Market St., York. Family greeting is open at 10 a.m. with the service to begin at 11 a.m. Following the service, join us in her Northeast Neighborhood for fellowship and celebration of life.
