Catharine I. Crone

DOVER Catharine I. "Cass" Crone, 92, died at 5:22 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late John W. Crone, Sr. Born September 25, 1918 in Dover Township, she was a daughter of the late Warren H. and Jennie A. (Krout) Smith. Cass and her husband owned and operated J.W. Crone Grocery & Sporting Goods Store in Dover for 15 years. She was also the proprietor of Cass's Odds & Ends in Dover. She enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. Cass is survived by four sons, Larry A. Crone and Roger L. Crone, both of Dover, Lewis C. Crone of York and Randall S. Crone of Wray, Colo.; two daughters, Kathleen I. Crone and Ann Marie Crone, both of Dover; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, John W. Crone, Jr. and Ronald R. Crone; grandchildren, John W. Crone III and Lori Ann Crone; a great-great-grandson, Delane Leedy IV; brothers, Richard A. Smith, Stuart Smith and Kenneth E. Smith; and sisters, Myrtle E. Paup and Evelyn Shue. Services are private at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
