David Prueitt Obituary

YORK David A. "Al" Prueitt, 89, passed away at his home Friday evening, October 4, 2013. He was the loving husband of Pearl S. Prueitt for 67 years. Al was born August 8, 1924, in Knoxville, Tennessee; a son of the late Mary Johnson Prueitt and Charles Franklin Prueitt. After serving in WWII as a C47 pilot in the Army Air Force, he returned to Tennessee and began work for the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1965 he moved his family to Mechanicsburg, where he was museum curator for Automobile-ORama. Leaving that position he opened his own business in 1974, Al Prueitt & Sons, Inc. a successful antique and classic automobile restoration shop that continues in business today. Al's love, other than his family, was cars. He became very well known among collector car aficionado's, sharing his knowledge across the country. Al is survived in addition to his wife by his three children, Diane Prueitt Brown wife of Michael, David J. Prueitt husband of Sandra and Ralph E. Prueitt husband of Cynthia. He was the proud grandfather of six wonderful grandchildren, Justin A. Baker and wife Mariana, Palatine, IL. Sarah E. Williamson wife of Mark, Alison Adamski wife of Brian, Benjamin Prueitt and wife Jessica, Cecelia A. Prueitt and her partner Mitchell Rife, Amelia McMillian wife of Gregory. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Lily Williamson, Eva Baker, Bennett L. Baker and Alexandra Rose Prueitt. Al has two brothers surviving him, Howard Prueitt, Greenville, TN and Joseph R. Prueitt, Knoxville, TN. Services for Al will be held at St. Paul's Wolf's Church, 4501 Wolf's Church Road, York, on October 10, 2013. A private burial will be in St. Paul's Wolf's Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Officiating will be his minister the Reverend Matthew Stillman. Remembrances made be made to the AACA Museum, 161 Museum Drive, Hershey, PA 17033. Arrangements entrusted to the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St. KefferFH.com

Sorry to learn of Al's passing, I am the senior member the Rush family from Knoxville Tn. that always stops by in April and October. Al always had time to speak to us and was the highlight of our trips North. We will miss him. God Bless the family he left behind.
