Dewey Calhoun Obituary

BRUNSWICK, GA Dewey L. Calhoun, Sr., 76, of Pittsville, Md., passed away on Sunday June 7, 2015, at the Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick, Ga. He was the beloved husband of Frances Mae (Shean) Calhoun. On June 29, 2015, they would have celebrated 58 years of marriage. Their love for each other was one of true devotion. Born in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Dorice A. Calhoun and Mary V. (Daugherty) Calhoun. Dewey had a great sense of humor, and was always willing to help family and friends with anything they needed. He enjoyed family gatherings, music, traveling, cars, boating, and swimming. He is survived by two daughters, Yvonne M Calhoun of Pittsville, Md., and Gail P Valora of North Bend, Pa.; a son, Dewey L Calhoun, Jr. (Renae) of Etters; an aunt, Twila P Daugherty of Orange City, Fla.; six grandsons, Nicholas, Clifton, Michael, Toby, Cameron, and Austin; a granddaughter, Emily; three great-granddaughters, Sophia, Catherine, and Paige; and his beloved dog, Furbie. He was predeceased by a sister, Daisey B (Calhoun) Freeman. At Dewey's request, a private memorial service will be held at Saint John Newman, Berlin, Md. Final resting place will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Leidy, Pa. Contributions may be donated to Maple Grove Cemetery c/o Mark Gavlock, 26 Reams Road, Beech Creek, PA 16822 Arrangements by Golden Isles Cremation Center and Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home, Brunswick, Ga.
