June Griest Obituary

WELLSVILLE June A. Griest, 84, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010, at the York Hospital. She was born June 11, 1926, in Kralltown, the daughter of the late Howard W. and Katie A. (Hoffman) Harbold. June was a retired pre-school teacher, having worked with the Head Start Program. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Wellsville, a charter member of the Wellsville Frontier Days, Warrington Neighbors, and the Old M.E. Church Foundation. June enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, playing cards, and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, Paul A. Griest of Lewisberry and his fiancee, Dolores Shelly, and Samuel R. Griest and his wife, April of Bernville; and two daughters, Suzanne Griest Sanders and her husband, Harrison of Wellsville, and June G. Firestone and her husband, Jonathan of Dover. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Dylan, Corbin, and Mallory Griest, Harrison Sanders, and Joshua, Jessica, and Jamie Rose Firestone. Services will be held Monday, June 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. in her church, 85 York St., Wellsville, with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Salem Church Cemetery, Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund, 85 York St., Wellsville, PA 17365. An online guestbook can be signed at www.cocklinfuneralhome.com

What a beautiful picture of June! I lived in the Wagner apartments behind her in Wellsville and would visit her and Jack on her front porch in good weather. She was pleasant company and a lovely lady. My sympathy to her family.

My Prayers and love go to the family June was such a nice lady I had the pleasure of meeting at The Wellsville Frontier Days Many Years ago through my Uncle Jake Joesph and I have fond memories of helping her in the kitchen, she will surely be missed by everyone who knew her .
