H. Arlene Henderson

NEW FREEDOM H. Arlene Henderson, 88, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at her daughter's home in New Freedom. She was the wife of the late Dr. Albert H. Henderson. At Arlene's request there will be no viewing, however a visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom. A funeral liturgy will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Joshua R. Brommer officiating. Interment is in New Freedom Cemetery. Born July 19, 1925, in Bridgeport, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Jacoby) Crosson. Arlene was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Freedom. She graduated from Bates College in Maine and received her Master's Degree from the University of Delaware. She was a Professor of Mathematics at Penn State University, York Campus, for many years. She was an original member of The Board of Directors for the New Freedom Library. Arlene was one of the founding members of the Theater of Performing Arts of Southern York County (TOPASYC), which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. She directed over 50 Musicals, Plays and Dinner Theaters and was the current Musical Director for TOPASYC. Arlene also played trombone in the Brodbecks Band. Arlene is survived by two children, Dr. Keith F. Henderson and his wife, Linda of Fayetteville, N.C., and Lynn M. Payne of New Freedom; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
