Evelyn Dubbs Obituary

Evelyn L. Dubbs YORK Evelyn L. (Deaver) Dubbs, 85, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Clarence H. Dubbs. Mrs. Dubbs was born February 22, 1917, in Baltimore. She was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Edith Mae (Keys) Deaver. She was a 1934 graduate of Slate Ridge High School in Harford County, Md. She received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Lancaster Technical School in 1973. She retired as a LPN from York County Hospital & Home in 1982 after 25 years. She was a member of St. Stephen's U.C.C. and it's Women's Guild and she also volunteered at CONTACT York. Her hobbies included playing the piano and caring for her flowers. Mrs. Dubbs excelled as a wonderful mother and grandmother, always remembering her priorities as love of God and love for her family. Mrs. Dubbs is survived by a daughter, Peggy A. and Peter Conrardy of Orchid, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Myrcla and Gary Grimm of York and Joyce and Harry Lipsitz of Silver Spring, Md.; three stepsons, Douglas D. and Lois Dubbs of Red Lion, James D. and Gladys Wolf of York, and Harold and Cass Dubbs of Berlin, Md.; 13 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; a brother, James A. Deaver of Jacksonville, N.C.; a sister, Edith L. and Alex McQuilkin of Lancaster; two nephews, Mark Deaver of Billings, Mont. and Phillip McQuilkin of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen L. Jones and a brother, Paul Deaver. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, at St. Stephen's UCC, 1569 W. Market St., York with her pastor, Rev. Elmer W. Scofield officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York and 1-2 p.m. Monday in the Church parlor. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's UCC, 1569 W. Market St., York, PA. 17404.
