Jon Daniel "Dan" Shedd, 73, of Norwood, North Carolina, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at his home.
Born May 3, 1941 in Cedartown, Georgia, he was the son of the late Olin C. Shedd and Irene Woodward Shedd. He was a graduate of Wingate College and also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked 20 years as a buyer for Belk Stores Services and also worked for Bell's Linen Closet. He briefly worked with the Plantation Estates Retirement Community in Matthews, North Carolina. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army Reserves and loved working in his yard.
Mr. Shedd is survived by his wife, Paula Rogers Shedd of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Brent Daniel Shedd and wife Shelly of Timmonsville, South Carolina and Michael Lee Shedd and wife Shelley of Mint Hill, North Carolina; one brother, Kenneth Shedd of Foxfire Village, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Jackson and Thomas Shedd of Mint Hill, North Carolina, Kari Lind and husband Wade of Fort George Meade, Maryland, and Haleigh Shedd of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cathey George officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to the donor's choice.
