Theresa Tooke-Johnson Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Theresa "Teri" Marie Tooke-Johnson announces her passing at the young age of 53. Born in Germany in 1957, she lived in the Bay Area for most of her life. Theresa died peacefully at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Clara, California in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 23, 2011 with her loving family by her side.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Keith Noel Johnson, and step-father Raymond Paul Madsen. She is survived by her mother Gisela (Don) Dyer, father Howard Tooke, brothers Michael (Candace) Tooke and Ron (Nohyra) Madsen, sister Cindy (Bill) Flores, sisters-in-law Carol (Joe) Roster and Janice (Les) Jones, nieces Kaela, Chelsea, Alyssa, Leah, Sierra, Sonora, and nephews Justin and Michael.
Theresa was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who loved and cared deeply for family, friends, and animals including her beloved cats. Theresa was a thoughtful and considerate person, who always put the needs of others before herself. Her talents were many, and she particularly enjoyed decorating, entertaining, and traveling. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
At Theresa's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Theresa, we love and miss you very much. You are in our hearts forever.

Saturday, May 12, is Theresa's birthday. She would have been a very young 55 (and wouldn't have been too pleased with me disclosing her age!). Her passing has left a hole in our lives, in our hearts. Time continues to march forward, however, and the time has come for this guest book to come to a close. Beginning this Friday the guest book will no longer be available so whoever would like to post a final message, please do so before Friday. A copy of the guest book will be kept by Theresa's family.

Love you and miss you deeply, dear sister. Until we see each other again....

Today marks one year that my beautiful sister has been gone. Theresa, I miss you every single day. I miss our long talks, your advice, and all our laughs. Words cannot describe how much I miss you. Rest in peace, dear sister. Until we see each other again.

Today will always be a special/sad day for me: Exactly a year ago today, Teri, Kaela & I went to see "The King's Speech" at the movies. Teri looked WONDERFUL - I remember how cute she looked with her hair in a pony tail and wearing glasses. She had snuck some Ghiradelli chocolate into the movie theater, which the three of us greatly enjoyed. Before the movie, Teri had talked Kaela into letting her buy her popcorn. I will always remember how contented Teri looked as we crossed paths coming & going from the concession stand. We both laughed when we saw each other. Later that night, Teri told me she had dinner with a friend after the movie. It felt so good to hear that.

This is a memory of Teri that I will treasure forever.

Oh my god.... i just found out today my darling, dearest friend and sister of the heart.
Teri was my best friend since 5th grade, lived with my family in college, and we shared everything including my son- she was his Godmother and emergency responder for both of us.
The space of time we would let lapse had grown since we lost dear Keith (my husband's best friend since college and our room mate when Teri & Keith met), and i am just devastated.
Teri missed Keith more than anyone could imagine, and as the 3 of us moved forward it was evident that her broken heart was putting on a brave face all too often.
We had just started 'garage sale-ing' again to trim the misc. in our lives before she moved to Yuma and i move on as well- started to joke again, to laugh again, to make small plans.
i won't miss her-- right now, i don't quite know how i can go on in life without her.
XXXOOO for tonight....

Teri was such a lovely person, and I was truly in awe of her many generosities and talents. She simply made life more beautiful.

If anyone can improve upon heaven, it would be Teri.

Teri was my brother Keith's wonderful partner in life, and will forever be his partner for eternity.

Teri, I will always miss you.

Love always,

Carol

Aunt Teri,

I am sorry it took me so long to post something on here....every time I tried I would end up just crying.

I still can't believe you are gone. I cannot get rid of the urge to call and talk to you just to chat and catch up, or plan a visit. The other day I was sitting on the beach, and I thought, "hey, I'll call Teri," just as I did so many times before.

I want you to know that you and Keith made my childhood so magical.....I remember growing up I would spend the night at your house during the Christmas season...we would bake cookies and decorate the tree. You always decorated so beautifully. I remember when I was 5 and you took me to see a stage production of Alice in Wonderland, then you put together a little birthday celebration for me at your house. You always had a way of making me feel like a princess(sounds cheesy but its true).

It breaks my heart to know you are no longer here, but I am happy that I have all these beautiful memories of you and Keith to treasure forever.

Sweet dreams, Teri. I love and miss you. Thank you for being in my life, and thank you for being you: a kind, generous, selfless and gentile soul.
