Al Haugen Obituary

Al Haugen passed away on April 3, 2017, in Yuma, AZ, his winter home. He was 77 years old. He was born to Olav & Edith Haugen on December 18, 1939, in Crookston, MN. After a few years in Tacoma, WA, during WWII, the family moved back to MN, settling in Albert Lea. After marrying Rochelle Nelson in 1960, they moved to Denver, CO. Al was accomplished in the building trades, spending many years building and remodeling homes. They eventually settled in Longmont, CO. Al & Rochelle were married for 34 years.

In retirement, Al enjoyed traveling in his fifth-wheel trailer and wintering in Arizona, making friends everywhere he went.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, youngest sister Brenda, and companion Pauline Hart.

He is survived by his partner Sue Leon; four children: Valerie Wait (James), Brent Haugen (Terri McCartney), Sheri Pease (Jack) and Erik Haugen (Danni); nine grandchildren: Blair Turner (Forest), Taylor Dunlop, Aaron Wait (Caroline), Nathan Wait, Katelyn Ferdig (Aaron), Caralyn Pease, Scott Pease, Dane Haugen and Anika Haugen; six great-grandchildren Peyton, Anslee & Killian Turner, Haven & Jaidah Conklin, and Braxton Ferdig; siblings Larry Haugen (Leslie)and Sandi Wallestad (Rick); and many nieces and nephews.

Per Al's request, there will not be any services. He wished to be cremated and his ashes scattered in the Rocky Mountains he loved.
