Ruth DeCaro Obituary
ZANESVILLE: Ruth Ann DeCaro, 91, of Zanesville, died 10:45 AM Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice following a four month illness. She was born Wednesday, July 5, 1922 in Dixie, Ohio the daughter of Frank Spires and Josephine (Abrams) Spires. She married Tony T. DeCaro on Friday, October 4, 1940.
Ruth loved cross word puzzles and word search puzzles and enjoyed making Barbie clothes. Ruth was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who greatly enjoyed the time she spent with her family. Ruth was a kind and generous lady who put everyone's needs in front her own.
Ruth is survived by two sons: Robert (Helen) DeCaro of Zanesville and Thomas (Benita) DeCaro of Philo; one daughter: Barbara (Don) Woods of Zanesville; four grandchildren: Ruth (Arthur) Harris, Elizabeth DeCaro, Ricky (Laura) Woods and Vicky Mitchell all of Zanesville; eleven great grandchildren; three great , great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Josephine Abshire and Iva Spires; one brother-in-law: George Johnson; two step grandchildren: Donna Rupe and Richard (Brandi) Rupe; four step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and two special nieces: Jean (Richard) Quigley and Francis (Joe) Martin and one nephew: Steve Spires.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband: Tony T. DeCaro who died August 22, 2002; four brothers: William Spires, Charles (Edna) Spires, Joseph (Doris) Spires and John (Iva) Spires; seven sisters: Nettie Conaway, Mary (Joe) Litturi, Fanny (John) Grimm, Anna (James) Slater, Genieva Spires, Sylvia (Bill) Smith and Dolly (George) Johnson; one grandson: Harvey Meighen; one son-in-law: Donald Woods and one daughter-in-law: Marjorie DeCaro.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday May 29, 2014 at The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 30th with Bill Jones officiating. My beautiful grandma, may you RIP. You are so missed and so loved. I will always remember the good times we had. You were so giving and so loving. You were always here for us all. I feel so lost without you. Give grandpa Tony a big hug and kiss and say hello and squeeze my momma for me. Grandma I love you. Matthew and Victoria will miss their great grandma so much, especially Matthew whom you called little buddy.
