Richard A. "Rick" Hagen, 51, died Feb. 14, 2005, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born in Ak ron, he was a life resident. He enjoyed playing pool and cards, and was well known by his family and friends as a person who would do anything for them. He retired from the City of Akron, Commu nications Department.
Preceded in death by his par ents, Garfield L. and Jean E. Hagen, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Hagen; children, Ashley "Boo," Chris and Meghan; grandson, Len non; sisters and brothers, Becki Mullen, Gary (Mona), Jimmy, Mike (C.J.), Mark (Alta), and Marie (Vince) Rizzo; stepfather, Doug Swires; uncle, Bill Hagen; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lucille and Ova Casto; sisters-in-law, Linda (Mike) and Cindy (Tim); nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and close friends.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. SATURDAY at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron 44301. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., FRIDAY, 4 to 8 p.m.

A cop pulled me over the other night. After he looked at my license he asked if I was related to the Kling street Hagens. He talked about you and Mark and Jimmy and what good people you were. Even he seemed to get choked up talking about you guys. Everytime someone talks to me about you I realize how many people cared about you and what a good person you were to everyone you met and knew. I had such a hard time yesterday, I miss you so much. You would be so happy for Chris and Nat, and being a grandpa again:) I love you so much. Happy Valentines Day.

It gets easier each year but it seems when December comes around it just sneaks up on me, and I know I'll be thinkin of you more often than usual, until Februarys over with. I will really miss you today. Me and mom were talking about that last Christmas Eve and how things just aren't the same. I miss all of you but I especially miss you. Sometimes you seem so far away its almost as if you were never here, and other times it's like you were just here, right in front of me and I'm so heartbroken that you're really gone. I love you very much and I hope that wherever you are you still know that. Merry Christmas.

Today should have been your 56th B'day. I still miss you! The pain has lessened. I think it is eased knowing you have Jim and Mark with you - although we desperately miss them like we missed you so rawly at first too. Dear Becki, Gary, Mike and Marie,
I just read through all the loving messages for Rick here, and I am overwhelmed with the love expressed. I am happy that Rick did find love in his life. I am also saddened that two more brothers have been lost so close together last year. My heartfelt condolences.
Mike and Marie, thank you for your messages at my Dad's passing. He had a long, happy life and was ready to go.

It seems like so long ago that you were here. i still miss you so very much but those feelings of anger and frustration of just wanting you back are gone. I dont want you back . i watched you hurt and struggle all those years and
i know you're much happier where you are. but sometimes i just need to talk to you or i just need a hug. Thats when it really hurts. sometimes
i wish i could just have one minute. i try not to think about where we were four years ago cuz all the shock n anger n sadness comes rite back. i will always think of the good times and everything that you taught me. How funny and kind you were. one of the things i remember most is how good you were to everyone you knew. i never heard you say an unkind word about anybody. and above all you were such a good dad to me. I could always talk to you about anything and walk away feeling better. we had a lot of great times together just you and me and i will always carry those memories with me. i think about you everyday. and ive finally come to realize that moving on doesnt mean im leaving you behind i know you would want me to be happy.
