It's interesting sometimes how life works. I met Ken about six years ago when I was organizing the FUHS Baseball Alumni Reunion and Game. We talked extensively about the 1942 baseball team and what a great and yet tragic story it was. I requested the school to at least put a banner up along with the other CIF Champion banners but I got nowhere. Unfortunately, I got involved with other things and didn't follow through with Ken's request to get the team recognized. I thank God that the gentleman got the recognition for the team that they so rightly deserved. Because the way I understand it, if our brave Fullerton boys didn't go off to fight for our freedom that Summer they would have played Long Beach and no doubt beat them.
So, I started this new community newspaper in Fullerton and I never forgot the story about Ken and the team and I wanted to go back and interview him a few weeks ago to refresh my memories and relay the story for my paper. Then I ran across the obituary.
I know Ken is up there with all the great FUHS ballplayers right now like Trent, Vaughan, Walter, Willard, Arky and the rest of the guys and I wouldn't want to be on the opposing side of that team.
Ken was a great man, a gentleman and my hero. My condolences to his family.

Ditto -- many thanks to Tom Gregory for getting the team recognized for their win. It brought Dad a lot of pleasure to receive that recognition, thanks Tom!

I have placed Ken's obituary on the Fullerton Union High School All-Alumni blog so that any friends who missed it in the Register may still read it. Ken will be missed by all of his former classmates at future annual FUHS All-Alumni luncheons.

Thanks to Tom Gregory for making it possible for Kenny and his teammates to finally receive their 1942 CIF Baseball Championship recognition...a great tribute to a wonderful man and a war hero. You can read all about that great Fullerton High School Baseball team at www.cifss.org under "History Corner."
