Joseph Schraff Obituary

Schraff, Joseph William. May 23, 1970 - August 4, 2008. Joe, Little Joe, Joey, Josef. Joe entered into this world with a few difficulties into the loving arms of his parents Ted and Becky Schraff. As a small child he made his own way. Joey grew up several years younger than his siblings Kesa, Theo and Patty. Although at times he may have felt separate from his siblings, Joe was the one that made our family complete. Joe always had a smile on his face and an easy going attitude with whatever came his way. Of course Joe was always armed with a smart comment, joke or prank. While growing up, Joe survived several cross county road trips with all six of his family members. We all slept in one tent at the KOA campgrounds, moving from one Air Force base to another. Finally in 1984 our family settled in Fullerton California. Joe played bass in several bands including Travolta, Karate Kids and The Distraction. He and his band mates always put on a good show. Joe enjoyed his time at Jax Bicycle shop in HB while making many friends with both coworkers and customers. His love for soccer, music, bicycles, beer and bratwurst also led him to discover his soul mate Vennice James Cooley. After a long courting period they married October 23 2005 on the majestic Queen Mary in Long Beach Ca. It was an all night celebration of love and life! Wanting everything to be perfect for his son, Joe's father Ted Schraff even had to take out a troublemaker during the celebration. It goes to show don't mess with a Schraff and especially don't mess with their loved one's!!! In 2004 Joe was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma. In true Schraff fashion Joseph fought to live until the very last day. He was even able to celebrate Vennice's 33 birthday on August first. Surround by love and the soothing words of his wife, family, friends and new puppy Taggie, Joseph Schraff passed early Monday morning August 4th 2008 at home. We celebrate his life Tuesday 4pm August 12 at Old World HB. In lieu of flowers Joe and Vennice wish to donate to the State Parks of California to keep bike trails open! www. calparks.org. Schraff Family and Friends,
You’re in my thoughts and prayers. Joe will never be forgotten. Myself will truly miss him. I will remember him forever and will continue to share my stories of laughter about him. He is without a doubt one of my first and best friends and I will never forget what he did for me. I know Joe would have wanted me to be happy for him and his life.

Vennice & Schraff Family,
My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead. I'm sorry I was not able to attend his memorial last week, but I was there in sprit. I knew Joe a long time ago back in the “Music Market” days. He was my manager at that store. He was and always will have an unforgettable presence, laugh and sprit that will never be forgotten by me and so many other souls that he touched everyday! He was truly an amazing person and I will never forget him! I was so happy to attend Joe & Vennice wedding a few years ago. It was a beautiful wedding and a fun party! I have such great memories of that day in Long Beach! Vennice, please know I’m praying for you & his entire family! I'm still in such disbelief over his passing & his loss to cancer and I can only try to image how hard this is for anyone who knew Joe! I know Joe is in peace now and his life will never be forgotten! May he rest in peace! He will be missed very much!
Love always,

Dear Patty and Schraff Family,

I just wanted to let you know how sorry I was to read about your brother's passing. He was a very courageous man, and you were a very devoted sister. I know that you and all of the Schraff family will gain strength from each other at this time.
Love,
Fama
