To my beloved husband, your memory shall infinitely be engraved in my heart and in my soul. You will continue on in Heaven but I promise your legacy will remain constant here in this life through me. Thank you for all the years that will have to be enough but never are. Thank you for so many memories that will never be equaled. Thank you for being the only one to truly understand me and for letting me truly understand you. Thank you for sharing your family with me and for helping me raise my son. Wait for me my love, for our path together is only shortly delayed, you know I always run a little late. Before long we will be together again so keep me in your heart as you will always be in mine.
To all of our family and friends who could or could not be at Jim's funeral, I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation in mere words. Thank you so much for your support and your kind words in his book. You are all in my prayers as we have thankfully been in yours. GOD bless you all,
Ginny Norton

Jennifer, Jamie, Jimmy and JD,
I'm very sorry to hear of your recent loss. I remember many weekends going with your Dad to swim in the channel 13 pool during his broadcast. I don't think I've ever had so much green hair. I also remember how he taught me how to play baseball in the circle and how he got mad at us for removing all the tar from the cul-de-sac. Those were the days! My family sends best wishes for all of you.

Aunt Ginny, cousin Brent, and all of Jim's family, we are so sorry to hear about Uncle Jim. You are in our prayers and may God provide you strength, embrace you with His love, and give you peace especially during these difficult days. God sent us His Son Jesus so we can all be forgiven that we may have eternal life with our Heavenly Father. What a blessing it is to know where Uncle Jim is at! He was always a pleasure to talk to and I really enjoyed talking to Uncle Jim about football because he knew the game well and he really played from the heart. To have the first Oiler number retired is really awesome! Some of our greatest memories with Uncle Jim were the family Christmas parties. What a blessing it has been to have Uncle Jim in our family.
love ya'll,

Memories of my Dad
My Dad gave me many gifts, athleticism,
humor and dogged determination to name a few.He overcame many adversities to
become a professional athlete. He was often told that he was too thin, hence the nickname"The Blade"from his Oiler days.
My Dad put alot of energy into sports and work, but he also put alot of Love and energy into Fatherhood.
Jennifer,Jamie,Jimmy and JohnDavid
have many happy childhood memories from Jason street in Houston. Our Dad would pile us all in the car and take us for ice-cream.He would make funny faces out of the Baskin&Robbins window. He always knew how to make us laugh.
My Dad taught us all how to throw a football:"Step into it and use your whole body".
You can honor my Dad today by being physically active and never giving up on yourself or the people you love.
Blessings to you all,Jamie Norton Luce

Ginny,
My prayers are with you. I will miss Jim and all the things we did with him: Going to the State Fair of Texas, 4th of July in San Diego and Lake Texoma, trout fishing in Broken Bow, trips to Lone Pine, Mt. Whitney, Apple Valley, Thanksgiving in Phoenix and Las Vegas, the frequent stops at Dairy Queen, and so many other special times and places. The memories are forever. I will cherish them and will always think of him fondly. Rest in peace, Bubba. From Elser...

Wow what a shocker it was to hear of “Uncle Jim’s” passing. Unfortunately one doesn’t ever get to say what is on their mind until it is too late. My fondest memories are of going to my aunt and uncle’s house when I was a little girl and hearing that deep voice say, “IS THAT AMANDA” I would be at one end and he would be what seemed like, way at the other end of the house (from the kitchen to the dining) and I would run and he would lift me so high above his head and carry me. What little girl doesn’t like feeling like a princess. That is how he always made me feel very special! This is what I most remember about my Uncle Jim along with the several conversations of him working out and running. I would always admire him speak of the great distances he would reach and think wow I too could do that. He is the reason I took on running. Aunt Ginny and Brent please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I love and miss you dearly.
Sincerely,
Henry Ramirez

Jimmy, Jaime, Jennifer and John:
My deepest condolences for you loss. I always thought it was really cool that your Dad had been a Pro Football player. But the memory that has stuck with me is of the time I discovered that he was such a lover of Jazz music. We kids had all gone off to start living our adult live by that time. Funny how that suddenly made him so much more of a cool guy to me! I LOVED growing up with you guys as my friends and would love to reconnect, at a more appropriate time... when you feel you are ready.
My love to you all,
~ap

Ginny and family,
We are sorry about the loss of your wonderful husband, Jim. He was a great man, and very much admired by many, because of his victories in football, as a business man, as a husband, dad, friend and personally as our cousin. My children and I enjoyed him very much, when he will talk about his experiences as a Houston Oiler, it was awesome! We will miss him! Please know that you and your family, and the entire Norton family are in our prayers, for God to bring peace and comfort during this time of grief. We love you, and please call, if there is anything we can do for you. The Lord Jesus bless you and keep you safe. With Love, Your cousins, Gabby, Galen, Alonzo, Alyssa and Allen.

When Jim first moved to Houston back in 1960, they rented a little house in Bellaire; I used to mow his lawn; I think I was 7 at the time, and I got 50 cents for it! He would come home and play football with us kids in a little alley that ran beside his house; he was always the designated quarterback - we only let him punt once; we had to chase that little football down 2 streets away! He was always a kind and patient friend to the neighborhood kids. I also have fun memories of times when they would have Oiler teammates over for a backyard party. I am sure that his children and grandchildren have fond memories of Jim just as I do.
God Bless You and keep those memories.

My heart goes out to the entire family of Jimmy Norton. We had the pleasure of seeing Jimmy on a trip he took to Hermosa Beach CA., in April of this year. We were able to gather some of the family together for a wonderful visit and reminisce about old times growing up. We spent the afternoon in Hermosa Beach on the strand and at the famous Lighthouse Jazz Club which Jimmy loved. We had Jimmy autograph some old photo's that we had from his Houston Oiler days. I will always remember Jimmy's infectious laugh. He will be missed but never forgotten. With all my love, Joanie Lick (Jimmy's cousin)

Ginny and family –
Although we only came to know each other over the past five years, a great bond of friendship has been formed. With the many memories to look back on, Jim will remain as one of the greatest men I have had the privilege to know. Jim always looked after the best interest of his family and will continue to do so as the Guardian Angel he is today.

Farewell to my Dad: The moments we shared at the end of your earthly life will stand as some of the sweetest of all. Just sharing the silence and peace of each other was a gift beyond measure and a memory to hold until we meet again in Heaven. See you then!!
