Funeral Services were held Monday, July 28, 2008, for Mark L. Ail, age 60, who passed away Friday, July 25, 2008, at his home in Vancouver.
Mark was born June 6, 1948, in Portland to Sara Belle and Ronald H. Ail. Mark was a graduate of Beaverton High School and held two master's degrees - a master's in education-training and development from Oregon State University and a master's in education-corrections from Western Oregon State University. He held a bachelor's degree in political science and sociology from Willamette University. He attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He was a certified facilitator of Seven Habits and Principle Center Leadership, team tools facilitator and held a certification as SPHR. Mark was the past president of Congregations Neveh Shalom, Columbia Credit Union, Pacific NW Regional President of United Synagogue of America. He was involved with USY and Camp Solomon Schechter.
Mark worked most recently as an advertising consultant and motor sports producer as well as facilitating strategic planning processes for both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Previously he was the director of operations for Pamplin Broadcasting, Inc.; general manager of KVAN radio; marketing manager for the Clark County Fair; employee development and advertising special projects coordinator for The Columbian and national advertising manager for The Columbian.
Mark is survived by his wife, Mona, at home in Vancouver; daughter, Felicia of Portland; step-son, Kevin (Shelley) Spencer of Ridgefield, Wash.; granddaughter, Olivia Spencer of Ridgefield, Wash.; father, Ronald H. of Portland; brother, David (Shelley) of Richmond, B.C.; sister, Rande (Mike) Petersen of Keizer; several nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Belle Ail of Portland.
His family was very important to him and he never met a stranger he couldn't have a conversation with.
Mark loved to travel and learn from each experience.
He was a teacher to many and solved many problems.
He was strong to the end and his passing will be felt by all.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to the Mark Ail Campership Fund at Congregation Neveh Shalom, 2900 S.W. Peaceful Lane, Portland, OR, 97239.

As Program Director of KWJJ, I worked with Mark on numerous country concerts for the Clark County fair.
Mark was a consummate pro. I always looked forward to my dealings with him, since he exuded enthusiasm for promotion and radio...something I could readily relate to.
We lost a good one, but he will not be forgotten.
