Saw Badfinger in Lethbridge Alberta about 50 years ago. My wife at the time was pregnant with our daughter and the band was so loud we thought it might have an impact on her pregnancy so we just moved into the lobby and listened to the rest of the great show. Still listen to the band today.

Sadly missed. I used to live a few doors down from where he lived knowing his family and grew up with his music. My son has listened to and now loves their music, buys anything Badfinger. Just goes to show timeless.

You were an inspiration for me to play drums. I remember as a little boy growing up in the Boston area hearing Badfinger for the first time. Great childhood memories. Who would have know that we both settled in Florida later on in our lives. May yourself, Pete, and Tommy rest in peace. Thank you for your inspiration.

I bumped into someone the other day and somehow Badfinger was brought up regarding a commercial or a movie that had a song in it of recent.
Therefore, I thought I would stop by and say hello to Mike again.

Mike, I think of you often, especially when October comes rolling around. It was a pleasure to get to be around with you for awhile, jamming, recording, talking about MUSIC. You always had the best stories, like the time you were on tour and got left behind in a very cold NYC and had to go stay inside the NY Apple office with the security guard until an early morning call to the UK got you air fare to catch up with the band just in time for the next show. Your presence was a force and you will always be remembered by me and your many other fans. Only love to you and your family. Mike, Austin Powers never had nothin' on you!!-Peace 4Ever. I will always miss your annoying noises.

I got into Badfinger a few years ago, and being a younger person it's very sad that I never got the chance to see them live. Badfinger were so much more than "The Beatles of the 70s," they were brilliant and unique artists in their own right. Something that I found really profound about Badfinger's history is Mike Gibbins' contributions to their sound. Early on, Mike was just the drummer- a brilliant drummer nonetheless, but it wasn't until a few albums in that we got to hear his unique voice, catchy melodies, and ever-thoughtful lyrics about peace, love, and the human condition. Mike is definitely the most underrated member of the group, but his songs 'In the Meantime,' 'My Heart Goes Out', 'Back Again', and 'Your So Fine' are to Badfinger fans, some of the best gems in their entire catalog. I recently began listening to Mike's solo CDs and they have blown me away. His 1972 sessions in Wales are also brilliant, and it is an injustice to Badfinger fans that those tapes remain locked away, for they were better than some Badfinger songs of the same era. Anyone who is a fan of Badfinger, I implore you to look beyond their hits and listen to Mike Gibbins' songs. They are fantastic and so was he. Ten years on, RIP Mike. "And for you now, my heart goes out, once again."

Thank you for ALL your contributions, much more than many people even know. Not only were you a great drummer with great song sence of what the songs needed, you were also a good songwriter, who also played piano and guitar! I feel it was you that help Badfinger to progress musically, which can be clearly heard in YOUR song "In The Meantime" pretty progressive musically for you guys back then, Lord knows what else you guys would have achieved. I'm also a songwriter, huge Beatle fan, but the Beatles were like Gods, no one could compare, until you guys came along. You guys as Badfinger, seemed more human to me somehow, and I instantly identified and became a huge fan, and a songwriter, writing much in your style. In my originals when I'm writing I always hear your style of drumming ideas, as the ultimate style for my songs! I agree with another persons post here that you most likely were the level headed one. I remember meeting you and Tommy in 1982 at a club in NW subs of Chicago at the Thirsty Whale. After the show, you and Tommy hung out with my brother and I at the bar for hours, one of the most fulfilling days if my life, as you were sharing your stories of the good Badfinger Days. You guys were so charming, and down to earth. You did give me your autograph, which I still have thanks. I'm sorry about your passing, but much of you will live on forever, as Pete and Tom, as your musical influence is wide and deep. You guys were very unique. Bless your soul. Jensongs dot net

I've recently become intrigued with Badfinger. I've been listening to the music and doing research on the group. I have heard about all the members but the drummer. I just found out tonight that Mr. Gibbins wasn't living anymore. All my respect to Michael Gibbins and his family and friends. Everything that happened to that group is so sad I could cry and I have. Pete Hamm, Tom Evans, Michael Gibbins and Joey Molland. I know them all now. So sorry for your loss.

I lost touch with Badfinger as a kid back in the 70', though around 3 months ago, 'No matter what', played on the radio, and instantly took me back.
After youtubing them, I didn't realise they sang such great (and tieless) songs.
All the boys up front having a great ol jam, and way at the back, this other guy, hardly seen, surrounded by his drum kit .
Being an up and coming drummer, I took notice how mike played his fills and technique, which we all so differently have, and mikes technique was all his , and so suited the Badfinger songs.
RIP mate, I now listen to your drumming on a daly basis, and glad I reunited with Badfinger - and Mike.

Sad to just learn of Mike's death. I had wondered what happened to him since watching a 'Directors Cut' of a Badfinger documentary, in which Mike is interviewed at the end. I still like Badfinger better than the Beatles!

I had no idea Mike had passed, it's sad to know that another of my drumming heroes has gone too soon. For me, Badfinger picked up where the Beatles left off, and Mike was my 'Ringo' during the early '70s. Rest in Peace.

We saw Badfinger at Boston garden in 1972 and then other boston gigs. Badfinger was our favorite band,very british and original. they could rock like no other. we still have our record collections which we will always keep. We felt very badly about the deaths of Pete and tom who we had the pleasure of meeting. They were very nice to their fans. It was sad to hear about Mike's passing. He was young. You can bet the three of them are making some great music up in heaven! rest in peace guys.Badfinger will always rule.
