Magdalene Selzer Obituary

Magdalene M. Selzer, 78, formerly of Mendon, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Tendercare Nursing Home in Clare.

She was born in Mendon on Nov. 10, 1929, the daughter of William and Anna (Sesterhenn) Selzer. She graduated from Mendon High School in 1947 and lived in the Midland area most of her life.

Magdalene was a history buff, was very interested in local and national politics and kept abreast of current events. She was an advocate for her nursing home roommates, informing the staff when the roommates were unable to seek help for themselves.

She will be dearly missed by special friends, Mike and Joni Moede of Midland, who would like to thank the staff at Tendercare Nursing Home - Clare for the compassionate care given to Magdalene, and for their personal interest in her.

Magdalene is survived by a brother, Howard Selzer of Des Plaines, Ill; and a sister, Evelyn Schmidt of Portage. Magdalene was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lester and Richard Selzer from Massillon, Ohio; brother, Albert Selzer, and sister, Elizabeth Ornstedt both of Sturgis.

A private burial was held on Friday, Aug.29, 2008, at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Mendon with Magdalene's nephew, Father Kenneth Schmidt, officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Mendon Township Library. Online register and condolences may be sent to www.eickhofffuneralhome.com.
