Lorna Richardson Obituary

Lorna Dee Richardson, 72, of Midland, died Saturday morning, Sept. 20, 2008, at the MidMichigan Medical Center.

She was born in Midland County on the family farm on 10 Mile Road, Sept. 17, 1936, the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret (Kellogg) Ireland. Lorna married Phineas Richardson on July 21, 1951, in Angola, Ina. She enjoyed going to rummage sales. She loved animals, especially her dear dog Polly.

She is survived by her children, Lil (Lenny) Lewis of Sanford, Herschel (Brenda) Richardson of Midland, Merrie (Rick) Gross of Sanford and Floyd R. (Lillian) Richardson of Midland; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Danny) Vinning of Hope, Herschel (Denise) Richardson Jr. of Auburn, Heather (Gary) Susdorf of Traverse City, Bruce II (Andrea) Reed of Sanford, Paula and Alisa Richardson of Bay City and Adam Gross of Sanford; eight great- grandchildren; and her brother Bud (Millie) Ireland of Midland. In addition to her parents, Lorna was predeceased by her husband Phineas; her daughter Daisey Richardson; and her sister Jean Lange.

Her family will always dearly remember her favorite saying that she was "not being stubborn - just firm".

Funeral services will take place 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler St. Pastor Richard Fairfield of Abundant Life Church, Sanford will officiate, with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from noon until the time of services.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Diabetes Association or the Humane Society.
