Reginald Shinault Obituary

Reginald Lee Shinault CHESAPEAKE - Reginald Lee "Reggie" Shinault, 40, passed away at his home Aug. 9, 2008. He was born in Virginia to the late Reggie and Beth Shinault and is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jennifer; three children, Shelby, Katie and Matthew; his best bud, brother and best friend, Donald Shinault and wife Colleen and their children, Donald, Candys, Karl and Robert; sister, Jennifer Hewitt and husband Donald and their children, Brittany and Hunter; three aunts; three uncles; father and mother-in-law, Chester and Doris Forehand; and a host of extended family and friends. Reggie was a graduate of Deep Creek High School, Class of 1986, and after a short term in the U.S. Marine Corps, he returned to Deep Creek to raise and provide for his family. Reggie was a hard-working, honest man who thoroughly loved the work he did as a master HVAC and project manager. He took great pride and joy in the work that he had done for Chesapeake Controls, Epsilon, Refcon and D.T. Reed Steel. Reggie was a giver, a giver of his time, his sweat and his friendship. He only knew how to give wholeheartedly whether it was to his children, his family, his friends or the kids who he coached. To him, everyone was just part of his extended family. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and witty banter. His gift to our family and hopefully to our friends and family will be the remembrance of all those moments, too plentiful to list. A memorial service to honor his friendship will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, Thursday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a memorial fund for Reggie's three children, care of the Northern Star Credit Union, 5100 George Washington Hwy., Portsmouth, VA 23702, Acct. No. 16889suffix3. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.altmeyer.com.

Reggie will be dearly missed. He always had a tremendous way of bringing a smile to anyone's face. The many nights my daughter stayed the night with Katie, she always came home with a Reggie story that made us laugh. I truly loved Reggie as a true friend. Thank you for all you have done for me Reggie. Jennifer, God will take care of you and your family. I thank God for placing Reggie in our lives. The next time I watch the Cowboys and Redskins play, I will be thinking of him and know that he is cheering for his beloved Redskins.

Dear Shinaults,

There is nothing I can say that will ease your pain; there is nothing I can do that will erase your loss. My only offering is a heart filled with sadness, eyes filled with tears, and empty filling within me. I am truly sorry for your family’s loss and the loss of a true “creeker”. Reggie will always be that smiling face of levity on the softball field that reminds all of us “it is only a game” and “for the kids not our egos”.

May your painful memories fade to ones of joy and happiness of times past. Our prayers are with you and we are always here for you, no matter what.

Reggie: not a problem, brother; May you rest in peace, your friend forever.

The world has truly lost a unique and special person. Reggie was the most giving man of his time, extensive knowledge, and caring friendship. Reggie was an honest man with a heart of pure gold. To say that we are completely devastated by his passing would be an understatement. We love Reggie with all of our hearts and he will never be forgotten.
