Peggie Valentine Obituary

Peggie Sue Valentine NORFOLK - Our beloved Peggie Sue Valentine was called home Aug. 10, 2008, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, after suffering a stroke at her home in Norfolk. She is now in heaven where she is rejoicing with our Lord. She was born Nov. 28, 1941, in Sledge, Miss., the daughter of the late Dock Middleton Berry and Carrie Watson Berry. She was a beloved wife, mother and nurse (LPN) serving at Westminster Canterbury. The last 10 months of her life, she had miraculously fought with the help of her Lord to recover from a severe stroke. She was a teacher's aid for 12 years at Norfolk Christian Middle School and also served as church secretary at Willowwood Presbyterian Church. Peggie loved her family and friends. She had the gift of laughter and always was found to show compassion to others. She is survived by her husband, Donald Gene Valentine, whom she married Dec. 31, 1963, at Capernwray Hall, England; two daughters, Angela Polk and husband James of Jacksonville, Fla., and Barbara Leigh Gustavson and husband Paul of Fredericksburg, Va.; four sisters, Jeanette Bryson of Memphis, Tenn., Christine Brown of Centerville, Utah, Bobbie Soelberg of Bountiful, Utah, and Shelby Howell of Southhaven, Miss.; and six grandchildren, Kelsey, Brady, Megan and Harrison Polk and Michael and Ryan Gustavson. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Peggie will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Virginia Beach Grace Bible Church, 2961 Shore Drive. Donations in her memory may be made to Virginia Beach Grace Bible Church. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Dear Valentine Family,
I am heart broken to hear of the passing of never forgotten Mrs. Valentine. You all are in our hearts and prayers. I will never forget you Mrs. Valentine nor your smiles and love for everyone you met. You were truly a woman of God, and you never gave up on anyone. Even as defiant as I was in school, you were always there to give me words of encouragement and let me know that God had awesome plans for me in life. And in saying that..THANK YOU!!! You have always been in my heart and thoughts even after 20 plus years. I love you and forever will. You are now joined with your Heavenly Father and with Ms. Megginson----so you two better not cause trouble up there lol I will not say good bye to you because good bye means forever...instead I will say so long my dear friend and I will see you again one day. Rest in Peace and know you are forever loved by family and friends.

Dear Don and family,
I met Peggy through the Deaf Missionary Church. She always had a smile on her face. She had a warm and loving personality. I pray for the family to receive strength and comfort in knowing what a wonderful person Peggy was.
Love,
