Robert Carswell Obituary
Robert J. Carswell PORTSMOUTH - Robert Joseph Carswell, 74, of Lansing Ave., a native of Cleveland, Ohio, born April 22, 1934, died Aug. 10, 2008. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and NORSHIPCO Marine Terminal. He was predeceased by his wife, Mamie O. Harding-Carswell. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, Desiree "Bonnie" Carswell-Wilkins (Lewis), Karen Carswell-Smith (Kenny), Robert "Daryll" Carswell (Shelby), Tanya Carswell; his loving grandchildren, Toya Crosland (Jermaine), Keion Smith, Chola Marshall (Furman), Kacey Smith (Melba), Stephanie Carswell, Lewis Wilkins Jr. and DeAndre Carswell; and eight great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; four brothers-in- law; three special friends, Joseph Honore, Helena Montgomery and Anthony Harper; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. James Episcopal Church, Portsmouth. The Rev. Dr. John Agbaje will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth.

Sorry about the loss of your Father. I will miss answering the phone and hearing “This is Mr. Bobby, may I have the pleasure of speaking to…” He was such a polite gentleman, full of wisdom, and good advice. He will truly be missed.
