Arthur Manby Obituary
Arthur James Manby VIRGINIA BEACH - Arthur James Manby, 88, passed away Aug. 11, 2008. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Pacific. He lived and worked in California for many years and relocated to Virginia upon retiring. His parents, George and Mattie Manby predeceased him along with his brothers, Alvah Manby Sr., George Manby Jr., Paul Manby, Willard Manby and Walter Manby and a sister, Mattie Manby Smith. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Joseph Smith; two sisters-in-law, Muriel and Mary Manby; and a host of nieces and nephews including Alvah Manby Jr. of Chesapeake, Joyce Jones of Virginia Beach and Dr. Laura McMillan of Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Riverside Cemetery in Norfolk by the Rev. John Baldwin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Building Fund, 5181 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach.
