Herbert Peak Obituary

Herbert Stanley Peak NORFOLK - Herbert S. "Herbie" Peak, 81, formerly of Wayne Circle, passed away peacefully Aug. 10, 2008. He was born July 24, 1927, in Ashland, W.Va. Herbie served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. He retired after 26 years of service. After retiring from the Navy, Herbie worked for the Norview Belo Market as co-manager for 20 years. Herbie had a zest for life; he was a fun-loving character who always had a joke. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kirk Peak and wife Theresa of Suffolk, Susie Johnson and husband Joe of Chesapeake, Jerry Peak and wife Amy of Chesapeake, Donna Price of Virginia Beach and Karl Peak of Suffolk; and seven grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ernest Trueblood.
