Shirley Harris Obituary


Shirley M. Harris PORTSMOUTH - Shirley Mae Harris, 74, of the 2000 block of Darden Terrace, died Aug. 14, 2008, in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Jacksonville, N.C., she was a member of West End United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Vernon C. Harris; three daughters, Bonnie M. Butler and husband Larry, Ann H. Nickelson and husband David, all of Portsmouth and Terri H. Kahn and husband Randy of Farmington, N.M.; a son, Charles Eddie Harris and wife Susan of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Margaret Elms of Portsmouth. A brother, Harold J. Elms, preceded her in death. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Revs. Rick Geoghegan and Tom Potter. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com
