John Tyson Obituary


John E. Tyson VIRGINIA BEACH - John E. Tyson, 82, passed away Aug. 15, 2008, at his home in Virginia Beach. He was an Army veteran having served during World War II. Mr. Tyson was a member of Masonic Hall Lodge No. 53, AF&AM, in Shawboro, N.C. He served as Master of his Lodge. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Lee Creekmore Tyson; his daughters, Lynn Mayer of Norfolk, Carolyn Long and her husband Ike of Suffolk and Candace Sample and her husband Tracy of Aydlett, N.C.; grandchildren, Tina Carter, Carol Henson and her husband Billy, Justin Long and his wife Ashley, Alex, Megan and Lucas Sample; and great-grandchildren, Cain Carter, Victoria, Alexis and Billie Jean Henson. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, 1000 East Indian River Road, Norfolk. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
