Barbara Menefee Obituary

Barbara J. Menefee CHESAPEAKE - Barbara June Menefee, 80, passed away Aug. 22, 2008, in a local hospital. She was a native of Crestline, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Eugene and Lydia Fahrion. She had resided in Chesapeake for the last 14 years. Barbara eventually pursued a career managing a periodontal office in Southern California but her first priority was her family, always putting their needs above hers. She was an incredible wife, mother and friend. Her daughter-in-law became her second daughter and her two grandsons were a source of joy and pride for her. She enjoyed being around her daughter's partner (Robert) and joking with him. No matter what the situation was, her family could always count on her complete support and unconditional love. Her passing has changed their lives forever but the memories she has left them only strengthens their belief in how incredibly lucky they were to have her as their mother and friend. She is survived by her husband, Andrew Bryan Menefee; her daughter, Theresa Menefee and significant other Robert of Franklin; a son, Dr. Stephen Menefee and wife Diana of Chesapeake; a brother, Gene Fahrion; and two grandchildren, A.J. and Tyler. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel is handling arrangements. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com

Dearest Menefee,
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember meeting "Grandma" and she was so very sweet. Our prayers are with all of you now and in the future. With much love, The Scollan family

Dear Dr. Menefee, I just read about the loss of your mother, and wanted you to know how very sorry I am. You saved my life many years ago. I did not know her, but can only imagine what a wonderful person she was to have taught you the compassion and respect that you always showed me. My heart is with you and your family during this time of grief. Sincerely, Joy DeVall-Stewart.
