Hazel Newby Obituary
Hazel A. Newby NORFOLK - Hazel A. Newby, 82, passed away Aug. 21, 2008. She was born in Perley, Minn., Feb. 2, 1926, to the late Lauritz and Mary Olson. She was a longtime member of Park Place United Methodist Church. Hazel enjoyed sewing, gardening, swimming and boating, but family was most important to her. Hazel was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, John E. Newby Sr. and four siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her children, John E. Newby Jr. of Norfolk and Laurie Newby Giles and husband Mark of Maryland; brother, John Leroy Olson and his wife Peggy of Minnesota; and two grandchildren, Kristen and Rachel. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
