Richard Thiede Obituary
Richard Dennis Thiede SUFFOLK - Richard Dennis Thiede, 62, passed away Aug. 23, 2008. A native of Pensacola, Fla., he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Richard retired as a power plant electrician in Shop 03 of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church where he served as past chairman of the parsonage committee and a member of the Methodist Men. He was a member of Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge No. 178. Richard was a former Scout master for Troop No. 10 and a former EMT with Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad. Richard is survived by his wife of 39 years, Peggy E. Thiede; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelley L. Joyner and Jonathan A. Joyner of Portsmouth; a son and fiancée, Erik N. Thiede of Suffolk and Andria Free of Yorktown; grandson, Jayce A. Joyner of Portsmouth; mother and father, Harry H. Thiede and Frances Radcliff Thiede; one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy T. and Butch Range, all of Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lisa R. Blackmonson and Rev. F. Hank Teague officiating. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, for visitation and Masonic rites and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be given to Providence United Methodist Church, 3105 Providence Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Condolences may be registered at www.parrfuneralhome.com.

Peggy, Shelley and Eric; Kathy and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers throughout this time. We will always remember Dennis, Shelley and Eric for their kindness and thoughtfulness while members at Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad, and espcially during those times we had the opportunity to spend with you, your family and friends. Dennis was always a thoughtful and caring individual and we will always treasure our times together.

Peggy, Shelly and Eric, my heart hurts and goes out to you and all the friends and family that mourn with you. I will never forget Dennis and how proud he was of the three of you. God may have called Dennis home just to give him someone new to tell about the three of you! I don't think he ever went more than a few hours without talking about his family. Please turn to God and His perfect and never ending love to find the strength to carry you during these times.
