Alvin Harris Obituary


Alvin Harris Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Alvin Harris Sr., 54, of the 1000 block of Fall Haven Court, died Aug. 21, 2008, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. A native of Camden, S.C., he retired in 2006 from the Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Chesapeake, and attended South Carolina and Virginia public schools. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Eason-Harris; a daughter, Kimberly Harris of Norfolk; two sons, Alvin Harris Jr. of Norfolk and Rodney Eason (Uneka) of Chesapeake; two sisters, Mattie Charles (James) and Mary Anne "Becky" Jefferson, both of South Carolina; five brothers, Henry Harris (Eunice) of Maryland, Elvin "L.V." Harris Sr. (Stella) of Virginia Beach, Bobby Harris of Chesapeake, Nathaniel Harris and Randolph Harris (Brenda), both of South Carolina; grandchildren, Reyna and Jamil; great-grandchild, Christian; special aunts, Gertrude Brockett and Geneva Wood; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Hattie Scott Harris and father, Junior Harris. A funeral will be held Wednesday at noon in Bethany Baptist Church, 2857 Campostella Road, Chesapeake, with the Rev. Jake Manley presiding. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, in charge.
