Betty Upton-Scott Obituary


Betty Upton-Scott VIRGINIA BEACH - Betty Upton-Scott, 70, of the 700 block of Mount Holly Muse, passed away Aug. 22, 2008, in Knoxville, Tenn. She was born in Princess Anne County to the late Mary and Calvin Upton Jr. Betty attended Princess Anne High School, was a member of Central Baptist Church in Norfolk, the Queen Mum of the Victorian Angels and the Virginia Beach chapter of the Red Hat Society. She was the key organizer of the Patrick Henry Elementary School reunion for her graduating elementary class. Betty helped many brides as a bridal consultant with Hechts department store. Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and Queen Mum. She will be dearly missed. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Scott and her daughter, Janice Leigh Bass; brother, Calvin Upton III; and sister, Margaret Gregory. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Calvin D. Scott and Charles H. Scott Jr.; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; siblings, Mary Lee McKelvey, Dorothy Myers and John Upton. A memorial service will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. in Central Baptist Church, 701 W. Olney Road, Norfolk. Additionally, the family will be hosting a private reception today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center, 4535 Commerce St., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
