Virgie Hill Obituary


Virgie Lee Hill CHESAPEAKE - Virgie Lee Hill, 85, of the 1100 block of Turtle Rock Trace, died Aug. 24, 2008, in her residence. A native of Norfolk, she was the widow of Harry L. Hill and a member of New Central Baptist Church Berkley, Norfolk, the Cordella Lamb Altar Guild and a missionary. Educated in the Norfolk public school system, she retired from Ames & Brownley: the Green Scene Cafeteria in 1987 after 30 years as a cafeteria attendant. She is survived by four daughters, Cornelia Hill-Watson, Angela H. Smith of Chesapeake, June Hill-Sparrow of Chesapeake and Virgie Lee Hill of Suffolk; two sisters, Dorothy Francis and Annie Davis; two brothers, Leroy Spence and Raymond Spence; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Hill and her parents, Viola and Raymond Spence. A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in New Central Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald S. Gaffney with interment in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Friends will be received at 605 Long Dale Crescent, Georgetown. Chatman/E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is in charge.
