Marion Smith Obituary


Marion E. Smith SUFFOLK - Mrs. Marion E. Smith, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital. A native of Nansemond County, she had lived in Suffolk for 49 years. She was a member of East End Baptist Church in Suffolk, where she attended the Adult Sunday School class and sang in the Voices of Praise choir. Preceded in death by her husband, Earl G. Smith Sr., and three sons, Esper, Robert and Thomas Smith, she leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Gregory (Gisela) Smith of Laurel, Md., Earl G. Smith Jr., Keith Smith and Kenneth Smith, all of Suffolk; one daughter, Cherlyn Covington of Virginia Beach; one daughter-in-law, Darlene Smith of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at East End Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. Mark A. Croston. Internment will be in Tynes Cemetery, Smithfield. The body will be available for viewing today at the church at noon until the hour of service. The family will assemble for the procession to the church at the residence by 1 p.m. today. Arrangements by Tynes- Edwards Funeral Service.
