Willie Jones Obituary
Willie S. Jones VIRGINIA BEACH - Willie S. Jones, 86, of Bay Point, passed away Aug. 25, 2008, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. "Slim," as he was known to many of his friends and family, was born June 26, 1922, in Como, N.C. He left a lasting impression on those who knew him well. He was always quick with a smile, a wave and a friendly, "Hey!" He worked well into his 80s and was happiest on his lawnmower, cutting grass. He is survived by three children, William Jones of Kentucky, Emily Gertie Jones of New York and Thelma Jones of New York City; two sisters, Betty Sue Parker of Como and Bertie Mae Sykes of Newport News; two brothers, Robert Lee Jones of Murfreesboro, N.C., and John Henry Jones of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three children, Alvin Jones, Douglas Jones and Elma Jones; a sister, Ruth Irma Jones; and two brothers, Charlie Jones and Randolph Jones. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Parkers Grove Baptist Church. Hertford County Undertakers is handling arrangements.
