Mary Robinson Obituary


Mary Fleming Robinson NORFOLK - On Aug. 24, 2008, Mary Ruth Fleming Robinson quietly succumbed at her home. The first child of the late Jimmie Ann Lewis and the late Percy Fleming, Mary Ruth was born May 5, 1929, in Huntsville, Ala. After relocating to Virginia and while residing in South Norfolk, she met and married William Eugene Robinson of Norfolk. During her marriage of more than 50 years, Mary Ruth expanded her family before beginning employment with the Norfolk Public Schools from which she retired after 15 years of service. The surviving family includes her husband, William; sisters, Margaret Bass of Harrisburg, Pa., and Dorothy Morgan of Norfolk; sons, Calvin Fleming of Hummelstown, Pa., Melvin Fleming of Harrisburg, Sidney Robinson of Norfolk and Clifton Robinson of Norfolk; daughters, Ovetta Robinson Burke of Fayetteville, Ga., and Karen Robinson of Hampton, Va.; an aunt, nieces, a nephew, grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. A private memorial will be held at the residence at a future date. Condolences may be sent to www.legacy.com. Arrangements are by O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.

When we look back over our lives we think of people as we last saw them, not realizing that with time they age and life becomes more fragile...Aunt Mary Ruth was one of the more colorful and eccentric people in our family and her presence will be greatly missed.
