Joan Minor

Joan S. Minor COURTLAND - Joan Slade Minor, 66, died Aug. 30, 2008, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lexington, Mass., a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Slade. Mrs. Minor formerly coordinated the Acolytes and was on the Altar Guild at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and later was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Country Acres Garden Club and the Southampton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years, Edward Colquitt Minor; her daughter, Elizabeth Colquitt Austin-Minor and husband Jay Alan Austin of Duluth, Minn.; one grandson, Benjamin Thomas Austin; and one brother, William Slade of Westminster, Md. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church with the Rev. James W. Browder III and the Rev. Ben Duffey officiating. Internment will be private.
