Randolph Brown Obituary

Randolph T. Brown NORFOLK - Randolph Tilton Brown died peacefully at his home in Norfolk Aug. 31, 2008. He was 87. Randolph was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Beale Brown and George Stanley Brown; and by his sisters, Christine Hasson and Frances Maurer, both formerly of Norfolk. Survivors include his sister, Edith Coker and her daughter Diane Coker; and his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Robert S. Brown of Charlottesville; and Dr. Brown's children, Dr. Robert S. Brown Jr. of Charlottesville, David M. Brown of New Zealand, Nancy Toms and Clinton A.B. Brown of Charlottesville. Randolph enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 17 years of age; he fought in 14 major battles in the Pacific, and was highly decorated for his military service. His niece, Barbara Porter and her husband Bill, were most thoughtfully caring during the final stages of his unsuccessful battle with cancer. Linda Perales made it possible for Randolph to live independently through her many services. Adel Bulman, Randolph's dear friend for three decades, gave meaning to their friendship that is unsurpassed. A Christian memorial service, conducted by the Rev. Paul Eure, will be conducted at the graveside at Oakland Christian Church, Chuckatuck, on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 10:30 a.m.
