Rhody Hall Obituary


Rhody B. Hall Jr. NORFOLK - Rhody Beale Hall Jr., 91, passed away Aug. 31, 2008, in Ruxton Health of Norfolk. He was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Westmoreland County and was raised on the family farm, Oak Farm in Montross, Va. He was the son of Rhody Bealy Hall Sr. and Eunice Belfield Hall. Mr. Hall graduated with honors earning bachelor's and master's degrees in agronomy from Virginia Tech. During World War II, he served in the Army in the European Theatre and retired as a colonel. After completing his education, he worked as an agricultural chemist in various capacities. He later worked for the Norfolk Health Dept. After retiring, he enjoyed many years at his beloved homestead, Oak Farm. He was a member and regular attendee of Menokin Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Barbara Braford Hall; his daughters, Barbara Louise Hall and Betty Hall Girsch and husband Jeffrey Girsch; his son, Rhody Beale Hall III and wife Carolyn Hall; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sister, Furl Hall Moore and her two sons. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Menokin Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the church fellowship hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Menokin Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1175, Warsaw, VA 22572.
