Myrianthe Pavlides NORFOLK - Myrianthe (Mary) Pavlides, 102, went to join her beloved husband, Christ, in heaven Aug. 28, 2008. Born July 18, 1906, in Nicosia, Cyprus, she was the last survivor of 12 siblings. She came to the U.S. in 1930 and five years later married Christ. They were married for more than 60 years before his death in 1995. She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Norfolk and the Golden Years Club. She was also a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Virginia Beach. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion for her family. Her beautiful smile and her famous stuffed grape leaves will be forever remembered. She is survived by her daughter, Florence Blankenship of Virginia Beach, who did more to make her comfortable and content than anyone can imagine; her daughter, Irene Wood and son-in-law Bob; granddaughters, Marian Mace (Bob) and Christine Comus (Louis); and seven great-grandchildren, all from Arizona. She is also survived by a special niece, Helen Kanakis, and numerous other nieces and nephews overseas. Our gratitude to Dr. Nabil Tadros for his many years of love and care. A special thanks to her caregivers of many years, Laverne Wheeling, Rosie Patterson, Chris Hall, Vernell Curry and Joann Clough, and to her caring neighbors and many friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 621 First Colonial Road, Virginia Beach, by Father James Pavlow. A Trisagion service will be held today at 6:30 p.m. at the Bayside Chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, where the family will remain to receive friends until 8 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk after a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Pavlides Scholarship Fund at St. Nicholas. May her smile, love and memory be eternal.
